The Washington Commanders reportedly found their next defensive coordinator. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Monday that Washington is hiring Minnesota Vikings defensive passing game coordinator and defensive backs coach Daronte Jones to fill its vacant DC position.

Daronte Jones and the Washington Commanders were finalizing a deal on Monday to make him their defensive coordinator, a person with knowledge of the move told The Associated Press. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the contract was not completed and nothing had been announced by the team.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that they are meeting with Vikings defensive passing game coordinator Daronte Jones. Jones has been linked with several other teams looking for defensive coordinators this month,

Daronte Jones has spent the past three seasons as the defensive passing game coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings.

Jones was notably a candidate for the Cowboys’ defensive coordinator gig before the team hired Christian Parker.
